Our Story

The name "Old 300" refers to the "Old Three Hundred" - the settlers who received land grants in Stephen F. Austin's first colony in Texas. For nearly a decade, Old 300 BBQ has been serving genuine Texas BBQ to thousands of visitors, seven days a week, in the heart of the Hill Country.

Blanco is a small, charming town of about 2,000 people, roughly 50 miles west of Austin along US-281. The town sits along the banks of the beautiful Blanco River and serves as the county seat of Blanco County. It's a favorite stop for Hill Country road trippers, wine trail visitors, and cyclists exploring the back roads between Austin, Fredericksburg, and Wimberley.

When you visit, you'll find plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, including our shaded front porch where you can enjoy live music on weekends. Out back, The Back 40 Event Center features a full dance hall and bar - perfect for private events, corporate gatherings, and live entertainment. There's plenty of parking right on the square, and the laid-back atmosphere means you're welcome to take your time and enjoy the Hill Country breeze.

### Ladd Pepper
**Title:** Pitmaster
Born in Kansas City and raised in Blanco along the Blanco River, Ladd Pepper is a graduate of Blanco High School and Texas A&M University with a degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences. Mentored at a family-owned smokehouse near College Station, Ladd has hand-cut over 8,000 premium briskets and led what has been called the largest live fire cooking demonstration in American history. His career highlights include preparing BBQ in Washington DC during President Obama's first inauguration and cooking for Tom Hanks, Garth Brooks, and Beyoncé.
