Great BBQ in the heart of the Texas Hill Country
For nearly a decade, Old 300 BBQ has been serving genuine Texas BBQ to thousands of visitors, seven days a week, in the heart of the Hill Country.
Whether you’re a Blanco resident looking for a great lunch or dinner, or a Texas BBQ fan from around the country - or world - we invite you to visit us next time you are in the Texas hill country. Old 300 BBQ sits right next to the historic Blanco County Courthouse, on the northeast corner of Pecan and 4th Street in the heart of downtown Blanco.
Blanco is a small, charming town of about 2,000 people, roughly 50 miles west of Austin along US-281. The town sits along the banks of the beautiful Blanco River and serves as the county seat of Blanco County. It's a favorite stop for Hill Country road trippers, wine trail visitors, and cyclists exploring the back roads between Austin, Fredericksburg, and Wimberley.
When you visit, you'll find plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, including our shaded front porch where you can enjoy live music on weekends. Out back, The Back 40 Event Center features a full dance hall and bar - perfect for private events, corporate gatherings, and live entertainment. There's plenty of parking right on the square, and the laid-back atmosphere means you're welcome to take your time and enjoy the Hill Country breeze.
Our promise to you, our customer, is to serve you the absolute best Texas Hill Country BBQ. On behalf of our pitmaster, Ladd Pepper, please relax, have a beverage, be yourself, and enjoy our food. All our food is handmade and is the best food we know how to make. And, trust us, that know-how is based on years of experience, quality, and good old-fashioned hard work.

What Guests Say About Our Restaurant
We made the hour drive from Austin to Old 300 BBQ in Blanco this Saturday, and it was absolutely worth it.
I ordered the Saturday special - three mega beef ribs for $52 - along with a half pound of Wagyu brisket ($22). We also added chopped barbecue, two pork spare ribs, and a loaded baked potato. For a family of five (two adults, a six-year-old, and a four-year-old - and I’m a pretty big eater), our total came out to about $130.
Honestly, I couldn’t believe the value. The quantity of food we received felt comparable to what would easily cost $300 at places like Terry Black’s in Austin - especially when it came to those massive beef ribs. Even knowing they were on special, it still felt like an incredible deal.
But value aside, the quality is what really stood out. This was some of the best barbecue I’ve had anywhere in Texas. The beef ribs were absolutely mind-melting - rich, perfectly smoked, tender, and packed with flavor. The brisket was outstanding, and everything we ordered hit the mark.
The staff was friendly and welcoming from the moment we walked in, helpful with recommendations, and the food came out promptly. The atmosphere was relaxed and pleasant - perfect for a family meal.
The portions were so generous that we’ll easily get two or three more meals out of the leftovers. For $130, the amount and quality of food we walked away with was unbelievable.
We’ll definitely be back. Old 300 BBQ is well worth the drive.
Espectacular, just clean Texan ambiance and great BBQ
Nobody has anything negative to say. Small town Blanco, some of the best barbecue you'll ever have.
My husband and I stopped here while passing by visiting family nearby. We were pleasantly surprised at the service and food! Unsure what to try Kammy gave us some good recs. The mac n cheese and pulled pork was our fav! My husband is a sucker for Banana Pudding too. We will definitely stop by when passing through again!
I live in New Braunfels and I always make the drive to Blanco to go to Ol’ 300. The BBQ is great, but the staff is what makes the experience worthwhile. It’s like visiting family when I come. They remember my name and always greet me with a smile. They always ask how I’m doing and make me feel so welcome. This is what other restaurants should do. Annie and Kamie are true superstars there. It wouldn’t be the same without them. The place is always clean, food is always great, and you’re truly made to feel like family!!!!
I have eaten here several times and everything is on point as soon as you step inside. Each time I stop by I have the brisket and it may very well be the best in Texas if not this part of Texas. You can't go wrong here. 👍👍
I was on vacation and ran across the Old 300 looking for lunch. I’m so glad I took a chance. This was a fantastic BBQ restaurant to find! The BBQ was wonderful and if I ever get back to Blanco and I hope I do! I will go back and eat there again! Great people and great BBQ! Makes me want to make another eight hour trip to go and visit the wonderful people. I’ve ate a lot of BBQ and I walked away wanting more! I wish it were closer to my home. Thank you for the great experience and FYI, it was worth every penny!
If you are in the Blanco Hill Country area this BBQ is so delicious. Thankfully for me they do not use mesquite wood because I’m extremely allergic to it. Hard to find a bbq place that doesn’t use it. Fantastic sides and bbq sauce as well.
Old 300 BBQ!
Old 300 BBQ absolutely blew me away! From the moment we walked in, the warm and welcoming atmosphere made us feel right at home. The rustic Texas charm, combined with the smell of slow-smoked meat in the air, set the perfect tone for a great meal.
The food? Incredible. Every bite was packed with flavor - the brisket was juicy and tender, the ribs fell right off the bone, and the sides like patato salad and coleslaw were the perfect complements. You can really taste the time and care that goes into their barbecue.
The staff was just as impressive - friendly, attentive, and truly passionate about what they do. They made sure we had everything we needed and went out of their way to make our visit special.
Old 300 BBQ is the kind of place you’ll want to come back to again and again. Whether you're a local or just passing through, make this a stop on your list. You won’t be disappointed!
Ignore Texas Monthly. This is a must stop BBQ joint. I intentionally take the extra time traveling on 281 from ATX to SATX so I can stop here.
Friendly folks in a comfortable spot on the square. Seating inside and out. Prices are great - way better than Austin. Grab a beer and get in line...
WAGYU BRISKET, Y'ALL! Beefy and well smoked. Just the right amount of pull and a great smoke ring. And it's all "moist!" This is the real deal!
Ribs, turkey, sausage, and chicken are all great. Sides are awesome as well. I like the green beans and Mac & cheese. I think they have dessert, too, but I never make it that far.
Come & Eat It!
