Great BBQ in the heart of the Texas Hill Country
For nearly a decade, Old 300 BBQ has been serving genuine Texas BBQ to thousands of visitors, seven days a week, in the heart of the Hill Country.
Whether you’re a Blanco resident looking for a great lunch or dinner, or a Texas BBQ fan from around the country - or world - we invite you to visit us next time you are in the Texas hill country. Old 300 BBQ sits right next to the historic Blanco County Courthouse, on the northeast corner of Pecan and 4th Street in the heart of downtown Blanco.
Blanco is a small, charming town of about 2,000 people, roughly 50 miles west of Austin along US-281. The town sits along the banks of the beautiful Blanco River and serves as the county seat of Blanco County. It's a favorite stop for Hill Country road trippers, wine trail visitors, and cyclists exploring the back roads between Austin, Fredericksburg, and Wimberley.
When you visit, you'll find plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, including our shaded front porch where you can enjoy live music on weekends. Out back, The Back 40 Event Center features a full dance hall and bar - perfect for private events, corporate gatherings, and live entertainment. There's plenty of parking right on the square, and the laid-back atmosphere means you're welcome to take your time and enjoy the Hill Country breeze.
Our promise to you, our customer, is to serve you the absolute best Texas Hill Country BBQ. On behalf of our pitmaster, Ladd Pepper, please relax, have a beverage, be yourself, and enjoy our food. All our food is handmade and is the best food we know how to make. And, trust us, that know-how is based on years of experience, quality, and good old-fashioned hard work.

What Guests Say About Our Restaurant
Always enjoy eating here. However, They don’t do 1/4 chicken.
What a great find! I was passing through and just handed to see this restaurant. The BBQ was great and the potato salad was so good I could eat 3 sides of it!
What a great historically fantastic Texas BBQ experience!!
Best bbq in blanco
I ate here the other week for the first time. My mom and I shared a plate of brisket, turkey, and sausage. We had two sides - green beans and mac and cheese. We sat outside on the patio as I had my dog with me. I really liked the sausage. It had a good flavor. The brisket had a nice flavor as well, but it was a bit dry. The turkey was alright. I really loved the sides. The mac and cheese had a really nice flavor as did the green beans. I had an Arnold Palmer to drink and that lemonade is some of the best I've ever had! It was enjoyable to sit out on the patio and I appreciate that they are dog-friendly. I bring my dog with me a lot when I go places.
Classic. I stop every chance I get. Great brisket. I don’t agree with the way they do the onion, I just like raw slices but you’re here for the bbq, not the pickles and onions (although that is a critical accompaniment). 10/10
Being from NC not the flavor that im used to.
The Scenery and atmosphere is great. The food was good. I've had lots of barbecue in my time. They do know how to barbecue!
Old 300 BBQ in Blanco, Texas deserves every one of its five stars! Let’s start with the Wagyu brisket it’s simply divine. Each slice melts in your mouth, showcasing the perfect balance of smoky flavor and tenderness. The marbling is exceptional, making it a standout among briskets I’ve tried elsewhere. Next up is the jalapeño sausage. It’s bursting with flavor and has just the right amount of heat. The seasoning is spot-on, and the juicy texture elevates it to another level. I could easily eat this all day! And then there’s the smoked cheesecake. Yes, you read that right! This dessert is a revelation. Creamy, rich, and the seasonal berry/cherry compote is subtly infused with smokiness, it’s a must-try to round out your meal or to eat alone with a bottle of Rousseau! While the sides-like coleslaw, okra, and beans-are similar to what you’d find at other BBQ joints, they complement the main attractions perfectly. The pickled onions are a delightful touch, adding a nice tang that cuts through the richness of the meats, and are one of my favorite style of bbq onions! The service is also great! Before opening each day, staff can be seen washing windows and raising the flags, clearly they’re proud of who they are! If you’re in Blanco, don’t miss out on this gem! You’ll leave with a satisfied palate and a smile on your face.
